A beautiful mountain lion has been in the area spotted both in Chevy Chase Canyon (near the country club) as well as in Glenoaks Canyon. Thanks to today’s technology, we have photos and even a video of the cat.
While these animals are beautiful, they are hunters and we should be cautious with our pets and while walking the trails especially during twilight hours (just after sunrise, and just before sunset).

Maintain eye contact. Don’t run. Agressively wave arms, throw stones. Do not turn away.BACK AWAY SLOWLY
Do not run and trigger chase instinct.PROTECT YOURSELF
If attacked, fight back.

There have been several sightings of a young mountain lion in the area. Remember, if you encounter a mountain lion, do not run. Instead, face the animal, make lots of noise and try to look bigger by waving your arms and throw rocks or objects to scare it away. If attacked, fight back.
